NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY & FREE SHIPPING!

Today I am away with family celebrating my in-law's 50th Wedding Anniversary.

As we were brainstorming what to give them as a gift, my niece Ali came up with a great idea - each of us put together a scrapbook page highlighting some of our favourite memories of them.
My husbands's family is large - he has four siblings and 14 nieces and nephews, 1 great niece, 1 great nephew, and lots of in laws! So it was going to be interesting to put together the album, especially since several live out of town. But....we did it!

So I thought I would share a quick video look through - there is no audio but its just a quick look at the 12x12 album we put together to honour them.

We did use several Stampin' Up! products (makes it so easy!) and lots of supplies I had from over the years of scrapbooking. A group of us got together and did some scrapbooking together and then I added pages of their anniversaries and put together layouts for those that couldn't make it.
I love the mix of journaling - which tends to be the hard part for me. Some of us did point form, while others did longer text and some just did a few short memories that went with the pictures.
I know Fred's parents are going to love it!

Here is a closer look at the pages I put together using some Stampin' Up! products.

I also included some of the Project Life pocket pages to add more pictures and then included empty pages in the back for us to add photos from the days celebrations.

(with a little tape and washi tape and I was able to create some flip up pictures to get even more in!)

Oh and I included one of the Project Life 6x8 pocket envelopes for any cards or mementos that they might want to save.

So I hope this gives you a little bit of inspiration for a scrapbooking project you might want to do - either for yourself or for someone else. I have done several over the years - I will be sharing looks of those over the next few weeks - as we celebrate and focus on scrapbooking this month.

But it might seem overwhelming to some of you to do such a large project,
but it really is easy when you break it down into easy steps

  1. Put together your idea - theme/flow of album. For us we knew each person would have one page and then we would put it in order of birth and add the anniversaries - easy!
  2. Gather photos - don't worry about how many. Print them out - I like to stick with 4x6, 3x4 and 5x7 - but you could go bigger. I use the Project Life app to create my 3x4 photos (2 on a page and print as 4x6). And I print most of my photos at Costco and some at home.
  3. Write some memories down - keep it simple. Look at your pictures to help jog your memory
  4. Gather a few supplies and start having fun! Keep it simple and don't stress - whoever you are doing it for - you are someone else - will cherish whatever you put together!

CHECK OUT THESE DEALS!

Happy Tuesday! I've been crafting today and wanted to share some of the creations I put together using the So Succulent stamp set and papers - I LOVE this suite of products. If you don't have it - you could always do this idea with any stamp set and coordinate colours with a paper line. I didn't purchase the die set so I have been hand cutting the flowers - its really easy and helps give some dimension to the card...

And this morning Stampin' Up! added some GREAT deals to the Clearance Section.
Have you checked it out? Click here and click on Clearance Rack on the left hand side.

There is a great selection of papers, embellishments and tools.
If you want to add to my next order send me an email or feel free to shop online and have the order come directly to you. And remember for every order placed this week you will be entered to win the weekly giveaway prize (Tasty Treats Paper Pack) and you will receive a free gift and card from me.

APRIL PAPER PUMPKIN KIT REVEAL

Wow - I received my April Paper Pumpkin kit in the mail on Monday. As promised it was fantastic and I had so much fun putting it together!

I have already seen several people posting pictures of what they have created using the kit on the Paper Pumpkin Fan Facebook Group - be sure to check it out.

As always the kit comes with a handout to show you how to put it together and a video - check it out!
Even if you didn't get the kit there are a lot of ideas and water colouring techniques that you might find useful.

Here is what I created using the kit:

I put the first three together as per their instructions - the only difference was I used my Aqua Painter Brushes and my own watercolour pencils (you can see a list of supplies at the bottom of this post that I used in addition to what was in the box)

Then I started to play a bit:

Here I added a piece of the Melon Mambo cardstock

Then I started to use my ink pads and aqua painters to put together these:
(I rub the ink pad onto a clear block and then add water - makes for easy clean up)

(I added a few of the Daffodil Delight enamel shapes)

(I added a few of the Melon Mambo enamel shapes)

I started to use my new ink pad - Lemon Lime Twist
(Sara hinted at it in the video - its one of the new In Colours and it will be available with the other four in June!)

I liked the look of it mixed with the Daffodil Delight and Pacific Point

(I also used Pacific Point card stock and enamel shapes)

(I used the Bermuda Bay card stock and enamel shapes)

If you received the April kit - I would love to see what you do with it - be sure to post some of your favourite creations on the Create & Share Facebook group - you will be entered to win a FREE gift!

And if you don't miss the fun in May - be sure to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin by May 10th - check it out here for all the details.
