Introduction to 31 Days of Thanks

Welcome to my first ever month long October/Gratitude project.

The idea behind 31 Days of Thanks is simple: document your gratitude for 31 days. Yes, it fits nicely into the month of October, but honestly? You can do this project any time of the year.

I have decided to do a combination of photos and journaling using a variety of prompts (I will share those tomorrow).

I will be using a Travellers Notebook style album - the one I am going to be using for this project was purchased from Amazon - you can check it out here.

My main goal, beyond having an attitude of gratitude, is keeping this simple and fun. So, if you want to join me in this focus for October there are a variety of ways to do this. You can find different methods/ideas by doing a search on Pinterest.

I originally saw this idea done by the very talented Cathy Zielske who does this project (called 30 Days of Thankful) in the month of November. She has been doing this for 7 years and you can see all about it by searching on her blog.

There are many ways to do this though. A few years ago, in the dead of winter I needed to shift my focus, so I cut out a title on my Silhouette, glued it on a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock, posted it on my bulletin board in my kitchen and started writing down something I was thankful for each day. Soon my husband joined in. I didn’t limit it to a month, we just kept writing until it was full. It now lives in my scrapbook album.

Another creator, Krystal Idunate, used 3x4 cards and photos to create a gratitude project all about her mom. Such a beautiful gift. Here is a look through that.

You can grab a journal or spiral notebook and journal your thoughts for each day. Or you could simply document every day on social media - Instagram or Facebook. The ideas are endless and I can’t wait to see what you decide to do. Are you up for it?

I will be back tomorrow showing you how I decorate my cover and share the journalling prompts I will be using most days.
